Privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026.

Keepy runs only in your browser. It reads the captions and chat that Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom show during a web call you join, keeps them in your browser's local storage for Keepy, and saves files to your Downloads folder when you ask or when a call ends. It has no server, no account and no analytics, and it does not upload your transcripts, pictures, or settings to its developer or to anyone else.

What Keepy handles

Where it goes

Nowhere outside your computer. To get captions, Keepy works through the call itself. On Meet it sends caption-language and acknowledgement messages on the call's own connection while the call is up, and it can set the caption language Meet has stored. On Teams it asks the page to start captions. On Zoom it clicks Show captions when they are off. Your transcript is never in those messages. All of the above stays in your browser's storage for Keepy, and in the files Keepy saves to your Downloads folder. The speech-to-text is done by Google, Microsoft, or Zoom as part of their captions, exactly as when you turn captions on yourself.

Nothing is sold, shared, or transferred, and none of it is used for anything other than giving you your transcript.

The troubleshooting log

Keepy keeps a short log on your computer to help fix problems. It stays there unless you save it as a file from the toolbar popup and choose to share it. It contains names and caption snippets, so share it only with someone you trust.

Keeping and deleting

Keepy keeps every transcript until you delete it. Delete a transcript from the transcript page. Removing the extension deletes all of its storage. Files already saved to your Downloads folder are yours: Keepy never changes or deletes them.

Other people in your calls

Keepy doesn't announce itself to the others in a call. You are responsible for telling them and for following the consent rules that apply where you and they are.
